Another Love Story are thrilled to bring their roaming mini festival series to the epic landscape of Ireland’s North West to present  Love Is A Stranger in  Juniper Barn, Ballymote, Co. Sligo on  Saturday May 18th 2024.

A one day/night offering, with very limited Day & Overnight Attendee Tickets available –  Love Is A Stranger  brings  our customary mix of ALS magic to bear on a truly unique & beautiful venue – Juniper Barn – complete with another carefully chosen selection of contemporary Irish artists & international guests performing across intimate & atmospheric settings throughout the day & into the early summer night.

LIAS also comes complete with a complimentary selection of local artisan food providers, pre order click & collect chilled beers from White Hag & all of the beauty & richness of the Sligo countryside as summer on the West coast blooms.

LIAS Juniper Barn sees live performances from beguiling and incredibly fast rising art pop chantuese Rachael Lavelle, brilliant and expressive rock tinged folk songwriter Robert John Ardiff, the smooth stylings of Rob De Boer & his jazz flavoured band, the wistful yet absolutely complete song worlds of exciting newcomer Ellie O’Neill (fresh from supporting Adrianne Lenker no less), Sligo’s native harp wonder Brídín, and Achill native and ALS firm favourite the folk brilliance of Achill Island’s Graham Sweeney.

We turn into the night with DJ sets from two incredibly renowned international guests – online phenom, curator, selector and full blown Manc personality – the inimitable Luke Una, and the no less expressive and feted, the brilliantly vibrant and positive Norwegian tour de force Skatebard.

Backing them up is a cast of incredible Irish talent led by our firm friend Donal Dineen who brings the Backstory wagon coast to coast, Galway lynchpin and all round legend Lolz (Gash Collective), and a host of local talent led by Sligo’s own Ricky Chong (The Big Romance) closely followed by North West native crews ToastTurn It On!Making Waves & Kevin Noone as well as your favourite party starting crew The ALS Shift Shack Soundsystem bringing the full ALS vibe to Juniper Barn this May.

PLEASE NOTE :

• Attendees who purchase Day Tickets will not have access to the Campsite or the Camper Van Area, and will not be permitted to stay on site after the event finishes on Saturday night.

 

• Attendees who purchase Overnight Attendee tickets have the option to enjoy a morning coffee, yoga & closing performance by the beautiful Juniper lakeside on Sunday morning.

 

• To stay overnight in your vehicle you must purchase a LIAS Camper Van Area Pass for your vehicle to gain entry to the Camper Van Area. 1 x pass per vehicle required.

 

• Attendees who wish to stay in the Camper Van Area overnight must hold an Overnight Camping Ticket.

 

• LIAS Camper Van Passes are very limited.

 

• Campsite will close for all attendees at 12 noon on Sunday May 19th.

CAR:

Juniper Barn is situated in the Co. Sligo countryside, just outisde Ballymote, just minutes off the N4.

Day Car Parking is offered for €5 per vehicle. 

This levy is to encourage car sharing, and to encourage saving space in a small site – proceeds of this charge will go to our charity partner Hometree.

Attendees cannot sleep in any vehicle in the main car park.

You must hold a Camper Van Pass to gain access the Camper Van Area to sleep in your vehicle.

BUS : Dublin Train – Juniper Barn Shuttle Bus :

The Dublin – Sligo train departs from Dublin Conolly, and arrives at Ballymote station (5kms from Juniper Barn) at the following times :

11:00 – 13:55 | 13:00 – 15:45 | 15:00 – 17:50 | 16:00 – 18:50

 

A shuttle bus will collect people from Ballymote Station – Juniper Barn at the bold times above.

 

Returning Sunday morning from Juniper at 11.00 for the 11.30 Ballymote – Dublin Train

 

Return Journey €10.

BUS: Shuttle Bus Sligo Town – Juniper Barn – Sligo Town 

A shuttle bus will run from Sligo town to Juniper Barn on Saturday May 18th Collection from Markievicz Road, directly opposite Thomas Connolly’s Pub at : 15:00 | 17:00 | 19:00

Return Options to Sligo Town at  : 12:00 (midnight) | 01:00 | 02:00.

Return Journey €10.

After 2am there are no further shuttle bus runs. 

**Please note preference will be given to Return Ticket Holders from Juniper Barn to Sligo – we cannot guarantee any places on the Shuttle Bus for anyone who did not purchase a return ticket from Sligo.

Juniper Barn is in a rural area, Taxi’s are very limited and should be booked for return before arriving on site. 

 

Yes LIAS is an Over 20’s Event.

16 – 20 year olds may not attend.

All attendee’s may be required to show ID before being admitted, and will not be admitted if they do not have proof of age. 

The campsite opens at 12 noon on Saturday May 18th.

Music starts at 14:00 

Last Entry will be at 21:00 pm on Sat May 18th 

Box Office & Front Gate will be closed at this point – there will be no further admission after that time.

We will have a selection of local artisan food trucks on site to cater for all your eating needs.

There will also be a very special, bespoke food experience in the wonderful Turf Barn space of Juniper Barn by Wildfolk Connemara.

This will be available as a very limited capacity add on to your Day or Overnight Attendee Ticket.

LIAS is a BYOSpirit event.

A maximum of one bottle of spirits are allowed per person.

No glass allowed on site – all spirits must be decanted into plastic containers.

 

The White Hag Chilled Click & Collect :

We ask that all BYOBeers are pre ordered from our partners, local legends White Hag to utilise the brilliantly convenient chilled click & collect option on site.

How will this work ? Easy.

To order a selection of your favourite delicious White Hag craft beers, which will be ready perfectly chilled and awaiting collection for you at Juniper Barn :

The Juniper Bar

Juniper Barn will operate The Juniper Bar throughout –  a wine & prosecco bar with soft drinks, mixers, and ice also available for your needs. 

Tap & Bottled water will be readily available at the venue – please bring a reusable vessel.

 

Two Stacks Welcome Drink

Our friends Two Stacks Whiskey will also provide a lovely welcome drink for the first attendees through the door on Saturday. 

You may only sleep in your vehicle if you purchase a Camper Van Pass.

1 x Camper Van Pass required per Vehicle.

Each attendee staying in your Camper Van must also hold an Overnight Attendee Ticket to stay on site overnight. 

Attendees with Day Attendee Tickets will not have access to the Campsite and/or Camper Van area and will have to depart the site when the event ends on Sat night. 

No overnight sleeping allowed in the main car park. 

LIAS is an Over 20s event.

Anyone without ID may not be admitted to the event.

No 16yos – 20yos allowed.

Children U16 are welcome to attend Love Is A Stranger.

Each child must be accompanied by a parent / guardian at ALL times.

Each child attending must be registered with a (free) LIAS Kids Ticket

These are limited in availability due to space restrictons.

Please be aware that this is a gentle day of music and fun in a beautiful space, but please also realise this is a (small) festival setting with music and crowds of people, and the party will get going as the day progresses.

Family Day Passes are limited special offer tickets for families who wish to spend the day  at LIAS. 

These tickets are for 2 x Adults + 2 x Kids U16.

These tickets are for Day Time Attendees Only. 

Families who wish to stay over night, must purchase  Overnight Attendee Tickets for adults, a Tickets. 

And children must be registered via our Kids Registration Ticket. 

IE all patrons who wish to stay overnight must hold an Overnight Attendee Ticket.

Yes – there will be a cloak room in operation for coats and small bags.

Both. The event happens both in covered space and outside. There is ample covered space if it rains.

 

Access from the carpark is a short walk across a grassy field. Juniper Barn has two beautiful gravel courtyards, and gravel paths around the venue itself.

Yes. Despite some uneven ground, in general the venue is very accessable and the main event spaces are on hard standing.
